Based on the concept, I used unorthodox materials imitating sewing equipment, such as: melted plastic, metal, varnish, shape-holding and dense fabrics such as leather and taffeta.
Moreover, the sewing tools were imitated with prints, embroidery and fastenings ideas.
To expand the concept of tools serving as prosthetics, I have created metal accessories in the form of enlarged pins in the form of necklace, bracelets, belt and brooch.
The garments in the collection imitate the most important tools used in the fashion studio — imitating them in construction, materiality, textures and color.
Thus, each look is a repetition of one of the sewing materials: ruler, scissors, thread, sewing machine, and others.
The sequence of the looks is directly related to the stages of the sewing process: tracing/drawing, cutting, sewing, finishing.
All together, garments create a certain narrative around the studio,
conveying a specific atmosphere of that environment and immersing in how the world of objects in a sewing workshop is structured.
This collection is inspired by the idea of nature mimicry — the adaptive imitation of living organisms for survival.
The topic is investigated through the prism of people's adaptation within their habitats.
Particularly it is exploring the relationship between the designer within the sewing workshop, since this is the place I’m interacting with most of the time.
I blended in the workshop ecosystem the way insects adapt to their environment.
Working with various sewing tools has developed muscle memory, so that my body automatically reproduces poses and merges with the tools.
In my collection, sewing tools are considered as prosthetics, augmenting my capabilities, helping to go beyond natural limitations.
